It’s the Final Countdown… with robots!

Yeah, I was going to use the original “Final Countdown” but 1) I couldn’t remember if I already used it and B) this one has robots.

So, today is the official “1 week left” day. This time next week I will be on a big ol’ jet airliner carrying me so far away. Away back home. I am looking forward to getting home, home to my family and friends and cats and many many projects that I have dreampt up in my year abroad. But there is a lot I will miss too.

I have spent the last couple days packing and shipping and cleaning. I have a lot more to go, luckily I have beer and MST3K to get me through the cleaning. I hope everyone has enjoyed my posts, I want to keep the blog going but part of me is not sure if I should just let this stand on it’s own as a testament for the year in Korea and start a different one when I get back. Part of me hopes that future NETs (Native English Teachers) will always be able to come to this blog and read my trials and tribulations so they know they are not alone. Or maybe, like Luke Skywalker, I am GREATLY suffering from delusions of grandeur (Harrison Ford quote). I need to think about it. What do you all think? Should I start a different blog when I get back home and just let this be for the NETs by a NET or just keep adding to this one? Either way… It is the final count down, play me out of here Journey uh, I mean Jabbawockeez.

mOw’s D’OH Of The Day…

6/21 - one of my favorite things about the internet is the constant CONSTANT questioning and need for clarification on every single god damn thing you post. You could say "my shoe has a hole in the bottom" and you will get 18 questions begging for clarification or telling you that you really DON'T have a hole in your shoes. I hope that EMP weapons become the norm soon so this blight on society known as the internet can go away for a while. i need to rest from all the clarification i do in my everyday. i pine for a more simple time when i could just say something and then it would float away into the atmosphere uncontested and unquestioned. Just living it's tiny life as a statement.

5/12 - Wake to an apartment covered in the wonderful glow of yellow. I can't imagine why i am coughing so much. hmmm.

4/19 - Beautiful blossoms... the silent KILLER!

4/14 - I mistook a student for a different one today, I felt like an ass but I thought WWTGD (what would the grinch do) so I thought up a lie and I thought it up quick. no harm no foul.

4/5 - I teach in the most expensive room in the school (English zone) so it makes perfect sense that i would get no cleaning supplies and no cleaning crew even though the other classrooms got them right?

3/28 - In Korea, freeze dried coffee looks EXACTLY the same as beans because you can't look in the package. So $17 buys a HELL of a lot of crap instant coffee.

3/20 - SO, if you are taking a bus into Daejeon city and you get on the 704... it ends at a bus maintenance building just at the end of the universe. If you want to try to find civilization you might want to get on the "1 bus" until you see people.

3/16 - Bank cards that aren't debit cards aren't debit cards no matter how many times you enter the number for an online train ticket.

mOw’s Random Observation Of The Day…

1/12 - Contrary to how EVERYTHING in America has a clock in it, NOTHING in Korea has a clock in it. I am pretty sure there are some Clocks without Clocks in them here.

6/10 - If children are our future, we are all really screwed!

5/3 - Well it took 41 years but i FINALLY have a heated toilet seat that washes my butt.

4/26 - Apparently the phrase "Use your indoor voice" does not exist in S. Korea. Real shame, i like that phrase. I like it even more when it is in use.

4/20 - Eh, for all the people crying of the end of the world due to national health care i just saw a specialist (for lung infection) and got the medicine for a total of $6. yeah, $4 for the doctor visit and $2 for the medicine. Just saying MAYBE it isn't the end of the world.

4/10 - In Korea there is never a time when there isn't CSI playing in some form or another. It must be a law.

4/3 - There is literally NOWHERE I can go that does not have one or more of my students. NOWHERE!

3/30 - I miss my dishwasher.

3/17 - If you were wondering what the capacity of a Korean city bus is... the answer is infinity.

3/15 - Fried chicken in America is pretty much broken down into 3 categories, wing, leg and breast. Lets just say in Korea fried chicken does NOT follow that easy to read "3 category" system. It is pretty much "fried thing of thing."

3/10 - Scooters are holy blameless creatures! All bow down to the mighty scooter.

3/9 - An oldie but a goody... Teaching Middle School is kinda like herding kittens.

3/3 - Top thee lies of all time: Light beer, the moon is made of cheese and students in Asia respect teachers.
