Slightly dazed and VERY confused

Let me tell you all a little bit about F.B.I. criminal background checks for Korea. It is truly glorious! So, recently Korea came out and said from now on State criminal background checks aren’t good enough, we need Federal level. Guess what that means to you and me… that means the Criminal Background Check has gone from a 2 – 3 week process (including apostille) to a 3 MONTH process. Spec-@$*!&-tacular! But wait, that isn’t even my favorite part! There’s MORE. So after you send away for the FBI criminal check Korea wants it to be Apostilled (why? why not.) Guess what, state level apsotille departments won’t apostille a Government Document! SO, you have to get your FBI check then have it notarized and THEN send it back to Washington to get Apostilled. So, after the 2 or more month wait, you can tack on another 2 – 3 weeks for the apostille.

I hate to break it to all you conspiracy theory folks but if you think our government is capable of all the great “cover ups” in history you are sorely mistaken. This government can’t even verify that a document it creates is real without months and months of red tape. Needless to say, i am not sure i will make the deadline for EPIK but i am going to nag the shit out of everyone i can get email for until it is done. That’s just good business!

I once asked a friend, “How can they let me go overseas and teach English to a bunch of kids without ever seeing my face or doing a formal interview?”

She responded, “The process is your interview. If you get through it, they know you’re really, really serious.”
